We are so excited to have recently launched a new service called CaregiverPlus. Essentially, CaregiverPlus provides comprehensive and personalised triage and care management services that will address the complex care and healthcare needs of patients.
Last couple of weeks, we have seen a number of bullying cases in the media and among these were some relating to special needs children. The behaviour of the bullies was deplorable and should be nipped in the bud.
I have always believed that there are two professions out there that can only be done well if one has a calling; they require selfless service and the utmost devotion to the people they are serving. Any guesses? You’ve guessed it, it is nursing and teaching.
Work-life balance is something we treasure and aspire for but sometimes we are so caught up in the rat race that we forget what really comforts us and makes us happy. Pause a moment, think and reflect. The answer might be right in front of you.
We held our inaugural Community Nursing for Older Adults Workshop. Participants were awarded four Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points. The workshop was a basic introduction to community nursing. The interactive teaching materials in this workshop invited the participants to explore the complexities of nursing in the community; the function of primary healthcare; and to develop a profile of the community in which their clients live and work.
On Feb 21, 2018, the Tripartite Workgroup released its recommendations on self-employed persons (our freelance Caregivers in our case). Among other things, the report recommends that insurance be made available and encourages contribute-as-you-earn model of Medisave contribution. We at CaregiverAsia welcomed this very timely and welcomed announcement.
I wrote a reply to an article in The Sunday Times recently. In my reply, which also appeared in the print edition of The Sunday Times, I mentioned that there are some expectations of self-paying consumers. Nursing homes are well and good but we should look into affordability and the familiarity of the home which research has shown that people tend to recover faster and age well. There is also the desire for personalised services, to lead life with respect, to live independently with dignity and on their own terms.
At the launch of Caregiving @ South West by Ms Low Yen Ling, Mayor of South West District, on the 26th of January, I heard a moving story by a gentleman who has been caring for his ailing father suffering from skin cancer and dementia for more than 15 years. The mental and emotional stress faced by him was so enormous that he suffered from depression.
Happy New Year!
What a busy year it has been for us at CaregiverAsia in 2017! We did loads of stuff and we helped many people, both our Careseekers and our Caregivers. We have a video below that best exemplifies this. And this video, like all our videos, was developed inhouse.
We are constantly thinking of ways on how we can help both our Caregivers and Careseekers. We provide our Careseekers can access on-time, trusted and transparent home care services; whilst freelance Caregivers and healthcare professionals can practice independently with full control of their schedules and terms of services.
