According to recent US and UK statistics reports, the number of freelancers in the UK has grown by 14 per cent in the past decade, and 53 million people are doing freelance work in the US, which is 34 per cent of their national workforce. The rising number of freelancers was also reported in Europe – an increase of 45 per cent from just under 6.2 million to 8.9 million in 2013.

It is said that now is a good time to freelance as the number of businesses hiring freelancers online increased to 46 per cent in 2013!

We must admit – the idea of being able to plan your work hours flexibly around your personal commitments is very enticing. Imagine having the freedom to pick and choose the projects you want to work on as well as the flexibility to work when and where you want. The brave new world of freelancing may come with the promise of freedom and work-life balance, but it also comes with tricky areas such as taxes, liability, and FINANCES.

One of the disadvantages of freelancing is unstable income. As a new freelancer, the uncertainty of where your next paycheck will come from and when it might arrive can be a source of anxiety. Therefore, budget planning may help freelancers feel more secure about their livelihood as well as any future retirement plans.

If this uncertainty is what’s stopping you from taking the freelancing plunge – worry no more! CaregiverAsia is here to help! With a community of over 700 freelancing caregivers, we've done some ground work for you. Here are some quick tips to manage your income as a freelancer!
