Like many daughters, Jasmine was blessed to have her mother’s dedicated help during her first confinement month. The situation changed when she had her second baby, and Jasmine had to engage a confinement nanny (CN) – for the first time.
Despite the common notion that domestic helpers or family members can be a wallet-friendly alternative to confinement nannies, the 32-year-old said that the benefits of having a CN outweigh the short-term cost saving. Jasmine reiterated that hiring a CN during her baby’s first month was an excellent decision as the nanny not only helped “lessen the workload” even further, but she also shared valuable postnatal care tips with Jasmine and her helper.
There is a widespread expectation that confinement nannies are experienced, and have a caring, friendly and calm nature. But Jasmine would tell you that her first-time experience with a CN, whom her friend recommended, exceeded her expectations. “With a confinement nanny, I was able to rest more at home as she was the main caregiver during this period,” the HR admin explained.
“The confinement nanny helped me with taking care of my baby, especially with the night feeds, as well as took care of my older child. She even cooked all our meals.”

The mother of two elaborated: “I would strongly recommend mothers to hire a confinement nanny so that they can rest well during this period, learn the ropes from the confinement nanny and be prepared to take care of their baby from the second month onwards.”
