What Does a Guy (Like Me) Know About Confinement Nannies?

This is a tale of how I went from ‘zero’ (knowledge) to meeting a ‘hero’ (in the world of confinement nannies).

I am a 27-year old guy who had zero knowledge about confinement nannies – why would I anyway? So it was really an eye opener when I met Aunty Nancy. This was the first time I met a caregiver, and she was not just any caregiver – she was a confinement nanny caring for two people at the same time.

Things to know about confinement nannies

Aunty Nancy made such a lasting impression on me that I don’t think I could forget her passion and contagious energy. Meeting her made me feel like giving all the love I could to the world. No exaggeration, that was really how she made me feel.

She is such an endearing lady who has coached many mommies and daddies on postnatal care, and it was very heart-warming to see how much she cared about each family that she helped. Looking at the photos of the families and babies she shared – I saw how she would always go that extra mile, from noting the family’s preference of food, to making sure that there would be no repeated meals during the 28 days. She even made sure the meals looked enticing for the family, and that the household was kept neat and tidy and that the family had everything they needed. It is no wonder that these families still keep in touch with her.

At the end of the session with Aunty Nancy, I had learnt so much about the importance of having a confinement nanny and someone who really knows what she is doing. Especially during the period when the parents are exhausted after the arrival of their new child and are often worried if they are doing things the “right” way. Aunty Nancy too offered postnatal massage for mommies to improve blood circulation throughout the body and reduce the post-partum swelling.

Meeting Aunty Nancy was truly a blessing and akin to meeting a ‘hero’ in this field. She has now come to be one of the loveliest ladies I’ve met. It was a joy meeting someone of her calibre, someone who at such an age is still so passionate about care and is constantly willing to pick up new skills and knowledge.

Confinement nannies help new parents with postnatal care

Aunty Nancy got me thinking about the future, when I have my first child, and how secured I would feel knowing that a ‘hero’ would be in the picture. After meeting her, I started sharing the details with my three sisters – I am pretty sure the family would be in touch with her sometime in the future.
